Skeleton Shrimp or The Worms from MIB 2 ?

Some great days Scuba Diving around Manado/ Bunaken Marine Park the last few weeks with heaps and heaps of macro life and also a few unusual encounters.
The Skeleton Shrimp is one of the unusual encounters of recent weeks, these are Crustaceans of the infraorder Caprellida, the name denotes their threadlike slender body which allows them to virtually disappear amongst the fine filaments of seaweed, hydroids and bryozoans.
The Skeleton Worm moves much the same way as an inchworm as it extends its forearms and retracts its legs, not unsimilar the the movement of a caterpillar; the male is slightly larger than the female and darker in color, measuring about 12 mm in length.
It could be that they are around Bunaken at this time of the year for breeding as many of the ones photographed seemed to have unusually large brood pouches (see photo), this is where they keep their eggs till they hatch, research shows that the female will kill the male once the eggs have been fertilized....nice one girls!!!
Another unusual fact is the similarity between The Worms in MIB 2 and the Skeleton Shrimp, though to be honest I haven't seen any of these Shrimps drink Coffee yet !!!

Golden Trevally orphan?

Maybe he thought he had found " Big Brother"....Two !!!

Jealous ???

The amazing Golden Juvenile Trevally (12 cm), as he get older he will loose some of his yellowness but instead can grow to 120 cm in length, the juveniles are famous for "hanging out" with other fish that are bigger than themselves and on some occasions can be seen accompanying Dugongs.......amazing.

Book Bound Bunaken Team arrived!!

Book Bound Bunaken Team has arrived!!

The first "Book Buddy" up with children of Tanjung Parigi village on Bunaken Island, supported by Bunaken Cha Cha Nature Resort.

Book Bound Indonesia run in Jakarta with two mobile Libraries serving about 600 children, and they also operating in Pakistan, too.

Briefing session.

Look for your "Book Buddy" with Treasure Hunting game style in the jungle...?

This activity caused great excitement for the local children and village people.
In near future, the idea is the Tanjung Parigi village will donate a building to BBB, an empty small school building that needs renovation, if they do then BBB will donate the money for restoration and put books in there, they will hire a person in there and open the BBB Library to children to come and read books there, once a week the person will go, by bike to other villages and stay there at the Heads house and children can come and read the books and discuss.

Bunaken Cha Cha Nature Resort will be honor to be a supporter of this BBB project.

Back On Line

Apologies to every body that has been trying to contact us at Cha
Cha for the last 7 days, Unfortunately our Internet relay on Siladen
was cut off last week and left us without any internet connection
(cheers guys...nice move). Well in the meantime our staff at ChaCha
has been hard at work erecting our new tower and we now can enjoy
uninterrupted Internet directly to/from Manado, a special thanks to
Richard of Kawanua Net in Manado who immediately came over to us
to fit the new antenna, once the tower was finished.

Anyway here are a few more photos taken in the last few days
